Ormit Talent & Buildwise launched Belgium’s first AI traineeship
A groundbreaking initiative connecting AI and the Belgian construction sector

The Belgian construction sector faces significant challenges: an increasingly complex market, relatively low productivity, high failure costs, labor shortages, and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. AI has the potential to be a game-changer by offering smart solutions to these issues. With their unique AI traineeship, Buildwise and Ormit Talent are investing in young talent, equipping them with the skills to strategically implement AI and create tangible impact for companies and the industry as a whole.
The first trainee has already started, with four more to follow in the coming months. Over the course of two years, each trainee will work on AI projects that create a lasting impact on the construction sector. Ormit Talent provides intensive coaching, focusing on people skills. After completing the program, trainees will transition into full-time roles at Buildwise, continuing to develop and apply their AI expertise.
A traineeship that pushes boundaries
This two-year program blends personal development with innovation. Trainees take on three progressively complex assignments while deep-diving into AI and data-driven solutions. They are supported by a strong community of experts, coaches, and fellow trainees. “This traineeship is more than just a job,” says Laetitia Moyaert, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Ormit Talent. “We’re looking for early-career professionals passionate about AI and data who want to harness technology to drive real change. Through targeted coaching and training, we help trainees discover their strengths and growth areas. This way, they not only learn how to develop themselves but also how to make an impact at Buildwise, in the AI world, and within the broader construction sector.”
At Buildwise, trainees will get hands-on experience with projects such as:
1
Streamlining and simplifying complex document management processes in construction and renovation projects.
2
Designing AI-powered tools that analyze IoT sensor and drone data to monitor construction projects in real time.
3
Leveraging machine learning for predictive maintenance, planning optimization, and pattern recognition.
4
Implementing AI solutions that are not just technologically innovative but also practical and scalable across the industry.

A leap forward for the construction industry
With this initiative, Buildwise and Ormit Talent aim to spark a movement in the construction sector. “We want to make AI accessible and show that this technology isn’t something from a distant future—it’s a tool we can leverage today,” says Pieter Van Geite, IT Director at Buildwise. “AI can help contractors and installers, both big and small, work more efficiently, make faster decisions, and focus on their core business. With this AI traineeship, we’re not just inspiring individuals—we’re positioning the Belgian construction sector as an international frontrunner in innovation.”
The program is looking for candidates with a strong affinity for AI and data, a growth mindset, and a solid understanding of Python. Language skills (French/Dutch) are a plus.
